For over a year, our kids had been eager to visit Las Vegas, and we’d heard from a few friends that there were plenty of family-friendly activities. Initially skeptical, we finally decided to give it a try—and were pleasantly surprised! The trip turned out to be a fantastic experience for the kids, and we saw far more families enjoying Vegas than we ever expected.

It had been 15 years since our last visit—coincidentally the same month we moved to the U.S.—and a lot had changed. One of the biggest differences? Hotel rates had skyrocketed, especially on the Strip and during peak times like mid-winter break, which this year overlapped with Valentine’s Day weekend. To stay within budget, we opted for MGM Signature Apartments, a spacious and family-friendly option that provided a peaceful retreat while keeping us close to the action.

One adjustment we had to make was hotel-hopping—it takes much longer now, with pedestrian bridges guiding foot traffic to reduce congestion. While MGM’s lazy river was closed for the season, we enjoyed spending time at the only heated pool open, soaking up the winter sunshine one afternoon.

Our 3-Day Kid-Friendly Vegas Itinerary

Day 1: Exploring the Southern Strip

  • Morning: Walk around the southern Strip, starting at MGM Grand, then head toward Mandalay Bay for the Shark Reef Aquarium. Continue through Excalibur, New York-New York, and Luxor to take in the different themes.

  • Afternoon: Stop by Hershey’s Chocolate World and M&M’s World, both offering interactive experiences and fun souvenirs.

  • Evening: Visit the immersive Arte Museum, one of our favorite stops—the tea café was a unique experience for the kids. Wrap up the night with dinner at Rainforest Cafe, where the jungle-themed atmosphere adds to the fun.

Day 2: Iconic Attractions in the Heart of the Strip

  • Morning: Explore the central Strip, starting at Bellagio Conservatory, which features beautiful seasonal floral displays. Watch the Bellagio Fountains, where the music changes every approx. 15-30 minutes depending on the time of day.

  • Afternoon: Stroll through The Venetian and take a gondola ride, then visit the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat for a free and fun stop. Check out LINQ Promenade, home to a giant candy store. End the afternoon with a ride on the High Roller, which offers stunning city views.

  • Evening: Catch a show near MGM—Cirque du Soleil’s Ka is a fantastic pick!

Day 3: Relaxation & Adventure

  • Morning: Start the day slowly and unwind by the heated pool at MGM Signature—a great way to recharge after two full days of walking.

  • Afternoon: Visit Sphere—it’s pricey, but absolutely worth it (we watched The Earth Show). Alternatively, Adventuredome at Circus Circus is perfect for amusement park fun, or Omega Mart, though we found it underwhelming. Looking back, we might have opted for Container Park instead.

  • Evening: Stroll around Paris Las Vegas and the Eiffel Tower area, which is especially beautiful at night. If time allows, explore Discover Children’s Museum for a more relaxed final stop.

Tips for Navigating Vegas with Kids:

✔️ Hotel-hopping takes longer now due to pedestrian bridges—plan extra time.

✔️ Some pools and especially lazy rivers may be seasonal (open during summer only), so check ahead.

✔️ Uber worked best for traveling between locations, while the Monorail is useful within the Strip.

✔️ Splitting days into two halves helped ensure kids (and parents!) got enough rest between all the walking.

If you're on the fence, rest assured it offers plenty of fun for visitors of all ages!
